OPEN END/ROTOR SPINNING MACHINES MASTERING THE ART OF FINE AND COARSE YARNS good

Introduction to core spun yarn

The yarn is produced by simply twisting a staple fiber known as a sheath around a core yarn. Generally, the inner core is made up of Polyester that adds strength and durability to the yarn, and the outer layer is made up of more softer and comfortable fiber such as Cotton or Polypropylene.

The yarn can be prepared through multiple manufacturing processes like friction spinning or rotor spinning machines. In the case of core-spun yarn, the spinning process typically involves less twist compared to finer yarns, resulting in a bulkier and thicker yarn.

Properties of coarse spun yarn

Strength: The core material provides support and stability to the staple fibers, making it suitable for durable fabrics.

Flexibility: These yarns exhibit good flexibility as the core allows for movement between the fibers, ideal for stretch fabrics.

Versatility: Core-spun yarns can incorporate a variety of core materials, such as elastane for elasticity or polyester for durability, making them versatile for different fabric applications.

Comfort: The combination of soft staple fibers like cotton and Polypropylene wrapped around a core material ensures comfort against the skin, making core-spun yarns suitable for use in clothing.

Uniformity: Core-spun yarns offer uniformity in terms of thickness and texture, resulting in consistent fabric quality, which is desirable for items.

Abrasion Resistance: Due to the reinforcement provided by the core material, core-spun yarns demonstrate good resistance to abrasion, making them suitable for heavy-duty fabrics.

Moisture Management: Depending on the choice of core material, core-spun yarns can exhibit moisture-wicking properties, drawing sweat away from the body and enhancing comfort during physical activities.

Application of coarse spun yarn

Apparel: Used in clothing items

Activewear: Ideal for stretch fabrics in activewear due to its flexibility and strength.

Denim: Employed in denim manufacturing for its enhanced strength

Socks: Core-spun yarns provide uniformity and durability, making them suitable for sock production.
